  • Carroll Godsman

Carroll Godsman photoA singer, actor and dancer since childhood, Carroll has had a varied musical career, which has taken her all over North America. She came to Canada from the U.S. in 1984 to attend the Jazz Studies program at St. Francis University, where she fell in love with Nova Scotia and decided to make Canada her home.

A regular on the Halifax music scene since 1992, Carroll has performed in clubs, concert halls, and at the Atlantic Jazz Festival. In 1999, she garnered an ECMA nomination as Jazz Artist of the Year for her debut CD, Close Your Eyes.

Carroll has also worked as an actor throughout the region on stage and radio, and in television and film. On television she played Mrs. Kent on Emily of New Moon. She has appeared on stage at Neptune Theatre in Sincerely, A Friend...The Music of Leonard Cohen, My Fair Lady, and Our Town. She's also appeared, in both musical and non-musical roles, with every other major theatre in Atlantic Canada, and several other theatres in the United States and Canada.

For the past four years, Carroll has taken a "break" from performing in order to complete her Jazz Studies work, earning a Diploma in Jazz Studies from Humber College, and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Thompson Rivers University.

She looks forward to sharing her love of music with the students at Buckley's Music's Education Centre.
